Most of us feel it before we can name it — a quiet sense that something in healthcare is wrong, underneath the surface, even when the surface looks fine. You look for the cause, and every time you think you’ve found it, it slips. You start to wonder if it’s just you.
I have spent forty years inside this work, and I have come to believe that feeling is worth taking seriously — not explained away, not rushed past, but looked at plainly.
